Q. What do I need in order to be able to use broadband?
A. You would require a basic analogue telephone line and an ADSL router or modem.
Q. What factors affect the broadband speed that I can receive?
A. Where your location is in comparison to the local BT exchange.
Q. Why can some phone lines receive broadband when others can’t?
A. Again this can be dependant on the distance your line is from the BT exchange. Other factors can include what other products and services you have on your lines. Remember it must be an analogue line so a BT Highway or ISDN line will not support Broadband.
Q. What happens when I sign up for GB Telecom broadband?
A. We will guide you to the best package for your needs and project manage the order through to installation at your premises. GB Telecom will recommend and supply various peripheral equipment if required. We can also offer a trained engineer to visit you to ensure the equipment/service is set up for your needs.
Q. How do I install my broadband?
A. GB Telecom will provide you with a ‘Welcome Pack’ containing all your relevant connection and email information if relevant. We can offer telephone or on site support by our trained engineers to assist you with this.
Can I set up GB Telecom broadband on another computer or laptop? Yes – please contact us for alternative options for these connections as we can discuss wireless and fixed pc requirements.
Q. How and when will I be billed for GB telecom broadband?
A. You will be billed one month in advance from the date of live connection to the service.
Q. How do I access the internet while I am waiting for my modem to arrive?
A. If you already have an alternative means of accessing the internet this would not be changed during the order/install process. Please speak to us if you do not have internet access and urgently require one.
Q. Can I change from existing broadband supplier to GB Telecom?
A. Yes – we can offer a full migration service to our service. All that would be required is for you to supply us with a MAC code from your current provider. We are happy to assist you with acquiring the MAC code.
Q. How do I change my broadband package?
A. If you are with GB Telecom Boradband and wish to up or down grade your service we can simply change the package you are on to what will meet your needs.

Q. If I change to GB Telecom Broadband will I lose my current email addresses?
A. No – there is every chance you can keep your existing email address. Please speak to us regarding your email requirements and we can advise on the best course of action for a particular case.
Q. What type of Broadband can GB Telecom supply?
A. We can supply you with anything from a ½ meg connection up to our Max 8meg connection. Depending on your location we can also supply SDSL packages.
